Asian Youtuber get upset with BBC Food’s version of Egg Fried Rice
By Iman Mensenares 24 Jul 2020 734

Rice has been a staple part of our everyday meal especially to Asian countries, hence, we have mastered the way of cooking it. Just a few easy steps, pour in the rice to a pot, wash it 2-3 times, put some water and measure it with your finger, then cook it. Chadah! Your perfect rice is ready.

But what if there is someone who cooked their rice in a different weird way? A Youtuber and stand-up comedian named Nigel Ng recently reacted to BBC Food’s Hersha Patela version of Egg Fried Rice.

“Failure…I am not confident this video is gonna be good,” he already mentioned in the first part of the cooking video when Patela did not wash the rice and measured the water with a cup.

Ng even got shocked when she drained the soaking wet rice with a colander. “This is not pasta, I’ve never seen anyone drain the rice,” he said. This is a shame to the Asian culture of cooking rice. Lol!

Although there were some parts in the cooking video that are pretty impressive, the Youtuber-comedian was pissed in the whole video. He even mentioned how monosodium glutamate makes everything better.

“Where’s your MSG, [if] you don’t use MSG how to make good egg fried rice...MSG is the king of flavor” he insisted.

Well, we are guilty of that, we put MSG in all of our dishes and it really makes it taste way better than just natural seasonings.

“You messed up everything,” Ng concluded the reaction video summarizing all Patela’s failures in the whole cooking process

Asian people can really relate to this man! Okay, I’m outta here, I’ll just cook some rice with my eyes closed.
