Schools are not just a place for studying and learning, it's also a breeding ground for spooky stories passed down from one batch to another. Wherever school you came from, there's one trademark campus ghost story that everyone knows. 

 

Here's a list of the most common ghost stories in Philippine schools and universities.

 

1. Ghost in the bathroom

 

There's always that story of a student hearing someone crying in a bathroom stall, but only to find out there's no person at the moment. Or worse, a ghost looking over your shoulder as you wash your hands in front of a sink with a mirror.

 

2. The White Lady

 

Every school or university has its own version of the white lady story. This white lady is supposedly the ghost of a former student who was killed or jumped off to her death and is now haunting the school grounds, searching for vengeance and justice so they could finally be at peace.

 

3. The Mysterious Student

 

We all know the student who attended a class and sat at the back of the classroom. When the teacher asked this student to answer the recitation, he or she just stood up, walked in front of the class, and through the blackboard.

 

Or maybe, there's this one class picture with a blurry figure on the side. Looks like an unlisted student, right?

 

4. Ghost nun/priest

 

If you studied in a Catholic school, chances are you might have heard of the resident ghost priest or nun roaming the halls long after school hours are done. Sometimes this is harmless, but there's also that sinister ghost who has the habit of scaring the students.

 

5. The haunted building

 

A huge sprawling campus could also mean that it's been around for a long time, which makes it the ideal atmosphere for ghosts and unknown entities. If the said college or university already existed during World War II, there's that one building that's supposed to be haunted, probably because it was used as a military base or a make-shift hospital. Being a silent witness of all the pain and suffering experienced by its former occupants, students are reminded not to stay at this building for too long, for fear of unwanted paranormal happenings.

 

6. The playful ghost kid

 

You thought you felt someone pass by? Or did you hear someone laughing through the empty hallways? That's most likely to be the resident child ghost of your campus.

 

7. Unexplained sounds

 

Whether it's a piano playing by itself or a wailing voice at night, these are the reasons why you should never stay at school after classes are over.
