Metro Manila Pride March is Heading Online This Year
By AJ Virtuz 14 May 2020 866

COVID-19 has been successful in ruining events that we have been waiting to happen. And of course, it’s not surprising that Metro Manila Pride did not survive this, as they confirmed on their Facebook post that the said event is officially cancelled this year. But, fortunately, the celebration is still happening online.

“Social distancing does not mean social disconnection. As we physically distance from each other, let us not forget to practice social solidarity. While the situation prevents us from coming together in person, it will in no way stop us from using online spaces to fight for our rights, protest injustices against the LGBTQI+ sector, stand in solidarity with other vulnerable sectors, and celebrate our communities.

At the end of their post, Metro Manila Pride encouraged everyone to stand in solidarity and keep the Pride lives on.

“Whether on the streets or in our homes, Pride must live on in each of us and in our solidarity within and outside the LGBTQI+ sector. Dahil, lalo na sa panahon ngayon, dapat lahat, walang iwanan. Kita-kits sa June, mga mahal.”

Metro Manila Pride helps in promoting the LGBTQ+ community in the country, whereas they are one of the most oppressed of human rights and oftentimes being discriminated for just being them.
