Former Camarines Sur congressman and Ex-chief of Department of Budget and Management  Rolando 'Nonoy' Andaya was found dead at his residence in Naga on June 30. According to the Bicol Regional Police Office, Andaya's personal assistant heard a gunshot and saw him lifeless with a bullet wound in his head.

"Initial report revealed that he was found dead inside his room at Andaya’s Residence, Saint Jude Orchard Subdivision, Concepcion Grande, Naga City at about 7:00 in the morning today, June 30, 2022,” the region office explained.

Andaya held an office in his province for a long time making him a political veteran. He served as the representative of the first district of CamSur from 1998 to 2006 and 2010 to 2019.  After his stint as congressman in 2006, he was tapped to be the secretary of DBM under former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.  He also served as Majority Floor Leader of the House of Representatives in the 17th Congress.

It can also be recalled that Andya was also part of the 40 congressmen who signed a complaint to impeach former President Erap Estrada.

His children, Ranton and Katrina confirmed the death of their father on his official Facebook page,

We request for your fervent prayers for his eternal repose, and to allow us, his family, to grieve privately our loss," said Andaya's children.

In the May 2022 election, Andaya filed his candidacy for the gubernatorial spot in Camarines Sur under theNationalist People’s Coalition where he campaigned for former Vice President Leni Robredo. However, he lost the race to Luigi Villafuerte, the son of Cam Sur's  second district reelectionist Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte.
