These are the things you should consider before buying a bike
By AJ Virtuz 12 Nov 2020 697

Cycling is a popular sport and hobby here in the Philippines. And now, biking as means of transportation has been deemed a common practice as well — mostly during the pandemic, whereas the public transportations strictly limit its passengers to avoid the further spread of COVID-19.

Unfortunately, as more people are encouraged to purchase a bike recently, the price tag attached to these single-track vehicles has been insanely overwhelming. Aside from that specific type of bike that you are aiming for, the amount of investment for upgrades and maintenance can be really expensive for your wallet. In fact, some bikes are said worth secondhand cars now.

To ensure that you’ll be spending every penny for your bike wisely, here are the things you need to consider before you buy your ideal bike:

Consider where you would usually ride your bike

Before purchasing that ideal bike, you need to consider the land, elevation, and distance between your home and the place you usually go to like work, school, among others. This means figuring out if you will travel through hilly roads, bridges, road works, and other conditions should be one of the major things you should consider.

Consider the bike parts you must know about

The parts you must research before buying a bike include frame, wheels, suspension, drivetrain, brakes, and contact parts (handlebars, seats and seat posts, pedals, and stems). You can also your local bike store about them. This is important to know so you would be prepared where to find its replacement for its maintenance.

Consider your size and fit

Just like in clothing, of course we want to wear the size that would give us comfort. Bike sizes may differ based on brands and styles. In this case, your height and body measurements should be taken into consideration in finding the perfect built of your bike. So make sure to browse some of their product measurements that will match your body type.

Consider your budget for a bike

You can purchase a mountain bike below P10,000. But depending on your preferred type of bike, you can even score one for as low as P5,000 with all stock parts or you can double your budget or even more and get a better unit. But of course, you have to make sure that the bike you are buying will not compromise its quality and performance despite its low price for your convenience.

Bike is indeed one of the practical investments this year as it can help you become physically active and avoid yourself into getting exposed to the public during the pandemic if you choose to use public transportations, and can also contribute into lessening air pollution. Just make sure to research well so you would get to buy the right type of bike for you.
