Aries — the first sign of the zodiac, is the representation of spring and new beginnings, earning people born under this sign the title of trailblazers, leaders, and innovators. This bright, fierce, and brave sign is the kind who always has a fresh idea and the energy capable of executing it. That’s why the world is full of prominent iconic Aries women who are bringing about surge of change in the world with their invigorating spirit.

And just in time for the Aries season, we list down different famous empowered females who were born under this sign.

Mariah Carey

Life is too short to pretend you don’t know any Mariah Carey song, dahling. This Grammy-winning songstress who can out-sing your faves, is the OG diva. With her 19 number 1 songs, making her the female artist with the most No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 (not everybody has that to their credits), even Billboard said she is the “Best Female Artist of All Time”. Mariah was the first pop star who demanded respect and owned her power just the way a male star would. Trust an Aries girl to prove that “Them chickens is ash, and she’s lotion.”

Aretha Franklin

Multiple Grammy winner and "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin was known for such hits as “Lady Marmalade”, "Respect," "Freeway of Love" and "I Say a Little Prayer." This Aries legend is a gifted singer and pianist, Franklin went on to release several popular singles, many of which are now considered classics. In 1987 she became the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2008 she won her 18th Grammy Award, making her one of the most honored artists in Grammy history.

Celine Dion

Celine Dion is a French Canadian pop singer, also known for her vocal prowess and her passionate showmanship, who achieved international superstardom in the 1990s. Known primarily in the pop ballad tradition, she recorded numerous hit albums in both French and English in the likes of “To Love You More”, “Because You Loved Me”, and the Titanic timeless classic OST “My Heart Will Go On”, which is considered her best hit. This Aries songstress was also the recipient of several prestigious awards.

Chaka Khan

Singer Chaka Khan achieved stunning success as part of the soul-funk band Rufus, delivering hits like "Tell Me Something Good," "Sweet Thing" and "Hollywood." She embarked on a solo career in the late '70s and made waves on the charts again with tunes like "I'm Every Woman," "I Feel for You," "This Is My Night" and "Through the Fire." A phenomenal vocalist, Khan has won numerous Grammy Awards, as well.

Diana Ross

Diana Ross began singing with friends as a teenager, and eventually formed the groundbreaking 1960s trio the Supremes, going on to have hits like "Come See About Me" and "You Can't Hurry Love." This Aries alpha female proved she’s a trailblazer as left for a solo career in 1969, later reaching No. 1 with hits like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Love Hangover." She starred in the films Mahogany and Lady Sings the Blues as well, earning an Oscar nomination for the latter. Despite personal and professional ups and downs, Ross has withstood the test of time as a performer with a career that spans more than four decades.

Lady Gaga

She has Oscar, Grammys, Golden Globe, BAFTA Awards. She can sing, she can dance.. Mother Monster, as she’s called, has always been a true risk-taker, a trendsetter in typical Aries fashion, be it fashion statements or in terms of her craft. Extending the warmth of her fire sign’s generous philosophy to those less privileged, Gaga also spearheads the Born This Way Foundation for bullied youth.

Emma Stone

Widely became popular as her character as Hermione in Harry Potter series, Emma Watson is a vocal queen for the #HeForShe campaign by the United Nations, which urges men in positions of power to use their voice against patriarchy. Not only is she an accomplished actress, but attends college and serves the most sophisticated fashion looks, resulting in many young women idolising her.

Kristen Stewart

After Kristen Stewart has played Bella Swan in Twilight trilogy, many did not expect that she’d go on to become one of the biggest androgynous fashion icons of this decade. Stewart has skated the shaky ground between commercial success and critically-acclaimed indie movies like no one else. Unafraid and bold, she’s all about living life on her own terms, be it with her dramatic fashion choices, or her relationships with both men and women.
